Oh no, no optical port!
Sometimes, things are not as rosy as we would like them to be. They can go wrong at any time. You must have thought that you would just use the optical cable to connect to the TV and within minutes you could resume watching your favorite shows with better sound and experience. Sadly, that’s not always the case.
Quite a few television sets do not carry an optical port. So, even if you have an optical cable, it will serve absolutely no purpose. You will have to think of another way to plug the sound bar in if your TV has no optical port.
How to connect the soundbar to the TV without optical cable?
In the absence of an optical port, you can always look at the HDMI alternative. HDMI connections are reliable, and the quality of sound rarely gets affected. Most soundbars have the HDMI port.
Simply connect the HDMI cable to the OUT jack on the soundbar. Look under the soundbar if you are unable to find it. The other end of the HDMI cable, of course, goes into the HDMI port of the TV. Make sure the connections are secure and then power on.
Make adjustments and set up the soundbar based on the instructions given. Once you are through with those, you can start enjoying surround sound like never before.
There’s another way!
Another, a less recommended method is to buy a converter that can enable you to use the coax digital out. The converter will be plugged into this and will give you the port you need – optical port. Connect as usual, and you are through.
Note: Remember to switch off the TV and the mains before plugging the cables in. Safety measures are very important when we deal with electricity.
You should never be disappointed just because a few things don’t go your way. We live in times that are riddled with numerous solutions for hindrances like these. We just have to be patient enough to look!
